Is it safe to make payments on this website?

Yes, absolutely.

The website has a secure certificate (SSL) which encrypts all the data flowing between the user and the server. The server do not store any payment information. It only stores (securely) the user logon credentials as well as shipping and billing information. When a payment is made, it uses one of two payment gateways:

Snapscan:

Snapscan is a payment gateway owned by Standard bank. It operates on the same level as the rest of the bank’s security. When Snapscan is selected as payment method the website is redirected to the secure Snapscan page for the duration of the financial leg of the transaction.

Payfast:

We use Payfast for all card and eft payments. All these transactions are redirected to the secure Payfast portal, similar to Snapscan. PayFast is a payments processing service for South African merchants enabling them to receive payments from local and international buyers. PayFast is a PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider, which means guarantees the same level of security as a bank. Part of the security services Payfast uses are tokenization and fraud and risk monitoring.
